ASCE Anchorage Hosts ASD Students for Viewing of ASCE Cities of the Future

The ASCE Anchorage Branch collaborated with the Anchorage School District’s Career and Technical Education Program and the Beartooth Theaterpub to present ASCE’s latest documentary, Cities of the Future. High school seniors and freshmen from the ASD Academies program at Dimond, West, and Eagle River were bussed  to the event. There, they enjoyed Beartooth pizza while learning about the civil engineering profession from a panel of local engineers who work in the geotechnical, structural, transportation, and environmental disciplines in both the public and private sectors.

During the discussion, one engineer inspired the students by stating, “To build the cities of the future, we need future engineers to design them.” Following the panel, students watched the thought-provoking documentary, which explored visionary ideas about what future cities might look like. The film is playing in IMAX theaters internationally: https://citiesofthefuturefilm.com/#theaters
