President’s Letter, October 2021

October has been a quiet month for APDC.  The Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors Board of Registration is working on a survey to get feedback on the continuing education regulations, which should come out through their email list. There is nothing to report from the Fire Marshal’s office regarding updated building codes, nor from the legislature about the state fiscal situation.  The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has been following proposed changes to Anchorage Municipal Code that would remove the requirement for PLAs to stamp landscape site plans in Anchorage, and APDC will be discussing this at our upcoming board meeting.

We will begin planning for our 2022 legislative season soon and I will use this space to let you know of any opportunities for you to help petition our elected officials for our shared interests.

One final note – 2021 is a professional license renewal year, so don’t forget to top off your PDHs and renew!
