PND Engineers, Inc., marks its 40th anniversary this August. Headquarters remain in Anchorage where the firm was founded in 1979. Today PND also has offices in Palmer and Juneau; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Houston, Texas; and Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Amy Mestas, PE, a senior structural engineer at PDC Engineers, was nominated by the Structural Engineers Association of Alaska (SEAAK) and named as Engineer of the Year 2018. While professional reputation and a strong project work history weigh heavily on the decision of selecting an Engineer of the Year, community involvement is just as important. In Amy’s case, it’s difficult to separate the two.
