Op Ed: “Alaska’s patchwork of codes and enforcement are a liability when an earthquake comes”

The 7.1 magnitude earthquake November 30, 2018, provides context for an examination and comparison of building codes and enforcement in local areas. Colin Maynard, PE, outlines various building codes and enforcement in an Op Ed for the Anchorage Daily News. His analysis concludes that the patchwork likely will result in the same types and extent of damage in the same areas in a similar event, or more catastrophic damage if the event is closer to the 1964 quake.
